Promise
Jim kissed Rhasha
passionately and held her tight. When he
released his hold on her, he closed his
eyes to pray. Rhasha and Thasha
didn’t know God but they closed
their eyes as Jim thanked God every way
he could think of, for healing Rhasha.
“Amen,” Jim said, and opened
his eyes. He picked up his guitar and
began strumming. Jim and Rhasha’s
voices joined together to sing hymns
Jim had sung to her every night.
Thasha thought about all the
pain her family had been through.
She’d long ago given up all hope of
having a happy life, but as Jim and
Rhasha sang, tears of happiness ran down
Thasha’s cheek’s. She knew now
that her family would at least survive.
Jim and Rhasha smiled at
each other as their voices filled the
room.
A half-hour later, Thamish
returned with Jim and Rhasha’s
clothes, and Jim took his clothes into
the bathroom to change. When he opened
the door to the bedroom, he found Rhasha
standing in front of him, wearing her new
clothes. The only clothes The Factory had
in Rhasha’s size were five pairs of
denim shorts and five button-up shirts.
Jim’s eyes opened wide.
“Rhasha!” he exclaimed,
“you’re beautiful!”
“If it pleases you,
Jim,” she replied, “this is all
I’ll ever wear.”
“Rhasha,” Jim said
with feeling, “it doesn’t
matter what you wear-to me, you’re
the prettiest girl in the world.”
Rhasha blushed as she
exposed a sheepish grin.
Jim couldn’t help but
notice Rhasha’s long, beautiful,
black legs and her small, feminine feet.
She was wearing sandals that looped
