The
last person to shake Jim’s hand, an
older woman, congratulated him on his
decision to become a Christian. She told
him she was glad he was now a member of
the church. She said what she felt
obligated to say and then released
Jim’s hand and shook the
preacher’s hand. Then she left the
church, walking behind the others who
were leaving.
Reverend Cox and Jim now
stood alone at the altar. Reverend Cox
shook Jim’s hand again.
“Jim,” Reverend
Cox said, “as you spoke to the
congregation about your vision, I saw a
vision of my own.” He paused. Jim
waited to hear more. “I saw a blue
aura around your body, Jim, and I’m
convinced God has something special for
you to do.”
Jim thought about that.
“Brother Cox, do you know what God
wants me to do?”
Reverend Cox looked at him.
“No Jim,” he said gently.
“God revealed nothing to me, other
than the blue aura around your
body.” Reverend Cox noticed the
confused look on Jim’s face and
added, “Jim, I don’t know what
God wants you to do, or even if he has
anything for you to do. I just wanted you
to know what I saw.”
Visions and auras were new
to Jim. He didn’t know how to react.
“Do all Christians have visions and
auras?” he asked.
“No Jim,” Reverend
Cox replied, “I don’t, and
I’ve never known anyone who
has.” Realizing Jim’s life was
about to change, he added, “If you
ever need consultation or someone to talk
to, feel free to call on me. I don’t
know if I can answer all your questions,
but I’ll try.”
