now able to hold back his tears. As he searched for the right words to say, God opened Reverend Cox’s eyes so he could see the Holy Spirit working in Jim. What Reverend Cox saw left goose pimples all over his body.

A thin black outline formed around Jim and began to glow. With a low hum, the thin outline expanded outward from his body. As it expanded, it changed color from black to a soft blue aura that completely engulfed Jim. When he moved, the aura moved with him.

Reverend Cox’s vision of Jim seemed to last for several minutes, but in fact it only lasted a few seconds. It was as if everything happened in slow motion. As Jim spoke, the aura remained with him, but only Reverend Cox could see it.

“I saw a vision today,” Jim said, “as I sat in the last pew at the back of the church. A window opened up into heaven, and I saw shining, glittering lights in the shape of a man. He held his hands out toward me.” Jim looked around the room as he spoke. “It was Jesus. He said if I asked him to come into my heart, I would never be alone again.”

He could tell by their faces that no one else had seen the vision, and because they didn’t see it, they couldn’t understand how Jim could. He lowered the mike and reached out to hand it to Reverend Cox.

Reverend Cox again invited the congregation to come up to the altar and welcome Jim as a new member. No one believed Jim had had a vision, but no one thought he was lying, either. They thought Jim had imagined everything he saw. They all were cheerful and friendly as they went up and walked past him in single file, shaking his hand.
