Field Of Flowers
At that moment, Francis knew
she wanted to live the rest of her life
taking care of people. She and Shanha
went to each bed and talked to each
patient, too. They said and did all the
things Jim and Rhasha said and did.
When they finished, they
walked across the road to the church. Jim
and Rhasha had their arms around each
other's waist as they walked, and they
looked at each other and talked about
Shanha's time in the hospital. Even
though it was too early for church
services, the sound of music could be
heard all the way to the hospital. Angel
Town residents knew all the songs Jim and
Rhasha sang. Every Sunday, the early
congregation liked to sing until church
started.
The church was already
filling up with people. The walls of the
church had been pushed out and up and
braced open with poles. Jim, Rhasha,
Francis, and Shanha entered and found a
place to sit near the back of the church,
amidst warm greetings. Jim and Rhasha
joined in the singing. Seconds later,
Jackie and Simbatu arrived and sat behind
Jim and Rhasha.
This would be the first
Sunday that Jim, Rhasha, and Shanha
wouldn't be singing for the congregation.
Reverend Morris had already made
arrangements with a gospel group from
Nairobi to provide the music services.
The three gospel singers arrived at the
church with Reverend Morris and his
family.
Reverend Morris said the
opening prayer. Everyone remained silent
as he asked God to send angels to
minister to the people. Then Reverend
Morris introduced the singing trio to the
congregation. When he finished the
introductions, he stepped away from the
pulpit, and the singers began to sing.
The roof went off the house
as the sweet melody filled the air. Jim
knew these singers were sent by God. The
congregation was clapping along with the
music, and everyone was happy.
