Jim and Rhasha looked toward the door. “Come on in, Jackie,” Jim replied.

Jackie opened the door and looked in before walking in to sit on the opposite side of the bed. He turned sideways to look at Jim and Rhasha. “Jim, I’ve got an idea. If you don’t like it, I’ll understand.”

    “What is it?”

“Well,” Jackie replied, “I’ve got a drum set at home. It includes the bass drum, snare drum, and cymbals.” Jackie got up and walked around to the other side of the bed. He pulled up a chair and sat in front of Jim and Rhasha. “I’m not the best drummer in the world, but I can play fairly well. Anyway, I thought maybe I could play drums for you and Rhasha.”

“That would be great, Jackie,” Jim said. “I’ll pay you for it. Also, I’ll give you a house to live in.”

“A house here would be great, Jim,” Jackie said, “and I wouldn’t need much pay. I plan to quit my job and spend all my time here.”

Jim looked at Rhasha. “I’ll pay you too, Rhasha,” he said, “for singing.”

Rhasha lowered her head. “Jim, I love you and you love me. We live together and I think of you as a husband. If I accepted wages from you, I would feel like an employee. Thank you, but I don’t want any pay.”

Jim understood, and didn’t say anymore about it. He decided to secretly set up a bank account for her.

They all said good night. Jackie went to the bathroom to take a shower and brush his teeth and Jim and Rhasha returned to their comfortable position in the bed. They put their arms around each other and soon fell asleep.
