- New Passion
The next morning, Jim woke
from a sound sleep to find Rhasha awake
and staring into his eyes. She kissed him
on the cheek, held his right hand between
both of hers, and said, Good
morning, sunshine. You have beautiful
eyes.
Good morning,
sweetheart, Jim replied. He smiled
and kissed her. But you have the
prettiest eyes.
They rose and prepared to
go to breakfast. Jackie woke up before
they left so Jim asked him to join them
when he was ready. Jackie arrived at the
dining hall about thirty minutes later.
While they were eating, Jim told Jackie
which house he could move into. After
breakfast, Jim and Rhasha went to the
hospital, and Jackie left to get a truck
and trailer, so he could move.
When Jim and Rhasha entered
the hospital, Jim headed toward the
office to talk to the nurse, but before
he moved away, Rhasha grabbed his arm.
Jim, she said, could I
use your hairbrush?
He pulled the small brush
out of his pocket and handed it to her,
then walked into the office as Rhasha
walked over to bed one. She placed a
chair next to the little girl lying in
the bed. The little girl watched her, her
eyes gleaming.
Rhasha leaned over to kiss
her on the cheek. You have very
pretty eyes, she said. Did
you have fun last night?
The little girl blinked her
eyes.
Rhasha began brushing the
little girls hair. Do you
want us to sing again tonight?
The little girl blinked
twice.
