Chapter
2 - Page 9- Vision Of Africa
Monday morning, Jim walked through
his company door and past several offices
on the way to his own office, offering
his usual “good morning” to
employees working at their desks.
Jim’s secretary walked
out of the break room and stopped at the
water dispenser on the outside wall of
the break room. She placed a glass in the
automatic water dispenser and waited
while ice cubes clinked into the bottom
of the glass. She was waiting for the
water to fill as Jim walked toward her.
“Good morning, Mary,” he said,
then smiled and added something extra for
the first time. “You really look
nice this morning.”
Mary blushed. “Good
morning, Jim,” she replied, then
added, “you look nice
yourself.” That didn’t really
describe what she meant. After a little
hesitation, Mary blurted out exactly what
she wanted to say. “Jim,” she
said, “you really do look nice this
morning. There’s something different
about you. You look happy and
content.”
Jim’s smile widened.
“Mary, I found the Lord yesterday
and I’m really excited about
it.”
“Sounds great,
Jim,” Mary quickly responded.
“I’ll get you a copy of the
quality production report. I’ll be
right back.” Mary professed to be a
Christian, but anytime the subject of
religion came up, it made her
uncomfortable.
When Mary returned with the
quality production report, Jim took the
document and entered his elegant office.
Crossing the thick, soft carpet, he laid
the document on his desk while he removed
his jacket and hung it on a coat rack. As
he sat in his chair and picked up the
quality production report, the spirit of
God suddenly filled his body.
