Chapter 2 - Page 10 - Vision Of Africa

The room became dim and Jim could hear a humming sound that progressed from soft to loud. The humming sound began to pulsate. After a few seconds, it faded, then ceased. Jim saw a glow appear on the ceiling. In the middle of the glow, as if the paint were peeling back, a window appeared, open into heaven-into what looked like the throne room of God. In the center of the window was a bright light.

A loud voice boomed as though amplified,
“Jim, you have been chosen by God.”

The voice startled Jim. He dropped to the floor, knocking his chair out of the way. He fell flat on his face, shaking all over, and pressed his forehead against the carpet. Elbows out to his side, he covered the back of his head with his hands. Fear drained all of his strength. Jim could hear words coming from his own mouth: “I’m scared, Father. I don’t know what to do.”

“Jim,” the voice thundered, “I am but a servant of God. I was sent to deliver you a message. Fear not, for no harm will come to you.”

Jim heard what the voice said, but remained with his face against the floor.

   “Jim,”
God’s messenger beckoned. “Sit up and view what comes forth from heaven.”

Jim rose to his knees and covered his face with his hands. Fear made his heart pound. He slowly removed his hands from his face and opened his eyes.
