Moments later, he was
airborne. There wasnt anything else
Jim could do, so he drove back to the
hospital.
While Jim was gone,
Rhashas family had been in to check
on Rhasha. Pepper told Jim that the
family was sick. Shed given them
some medication and sent them to get some
breakfast.
Jim walked over to
Rhashas bed. He leaned over and
kissed her on the cheek. Hello,
pretty girl, he said.
Rhasha made no movement, but
Jim could see a gleam in her eyes. He
knew she was getting better and soon she
could be put on soft food. He carried his
chair over from beside the sick
mothers bed and set it beside
Rhashas bed. He sat with her and
talked to her about God. During the day,
Jim also spent some time talking to the
mother and her children. Jim read the
Bible to Rhasha, but he read loud enough
for everyone to hear.
At the end of the day, Jim picked up his
guitar and sang three Christian hymns to
Rhasha. Rhasha kept her eyes open as long
as she could, but the music was soothing
and she soon went to sleep. Jim leaned
his guitar against the wall and said a
prayer for all the patients. He kissed
Rhasha on the forehead and held her hand
between his hands. Then he laid his head
on the edge of Rhashas bed and went
to sleep.
Every day, Jim told Rhasha
how pretty she was, and talked to her and
read the Bible to her. Often times he
showed her the pictures on the calender
and told her stories about cowboys. Every
day, he brushed her hair and sang to her.
Every day, he held Rhashas hand
between his. Every day, he prayed for her
and went to sleep in the chair next to
Rhashas bed.
During this time, Buju
Construction Company finished working on
the last twenty houses. Jim hired them to
build an emergency unloading dock. He
