Chapter 5 - Page 51 - Building A Village

As Jim prayed, he heard a car stopping nearby. The motor ran for a few moments, then it stopped. Jim kept his eyes closed. He heard a car door shut. “Father,” Jim said, “thank you for your many blessings. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen”

Jim opened his eyes and found Jackie standing in front of him. Jackie didn’t even give Jim a chance to say hello before he blurted excitedly, “Jim, the Lord spoke to me this morning. The Lord has never spoken to me before.”

Jim became excited too. He stood up. “Did he say anything you can share with me, Jackie?”

Jackie began to calm down. He nodded. “I was having breakfast and I said grace. Before I could open my eyes, a voice spoke to me!” Jackie shuddered. “ ‘Jackie,’ the voice said-He called me by my name, Jim!”

Jim was anxious to hear what God had said. He gestured quickly for Jackie to continue. “OK Jackie,” he prompted, “so what did God say?”

“He said, ‘Jackie, Jim moved into a trailer house on his land and he has no transportation to church this morning.’ The voice blasted loudly at me! ‘Go tell Jim you were sent to take him to church,’ God said. ‘You don’t have time to go back to your church, so take him to his church.’ ”

“Jackie,” Jim said, “I’m sure the voice you heard was not God, but a messenger for God.”

“Jim, he called me by my name! I couldn’t even eat breakfast! The Holy Spirit has been with me all the way out here!”
