Chapter
4 - Page 41 - 2000 Acres
The pool didnt have a
life guard and no one else was around.
Jim had the pool to himself. He began to
play in the water. He floated on his back
for a while, and swam a few laps around
the pool. Finally he swam to the shallow
end and sat on a step to think about what
heaven was like. After a while, he got
tired of the water and decided to get out
of the pool to relax. The minute his foot
left the water, the glow vanished and the
egg-shaped dome dissipated.
Jim walked to his chair,
dripping water onto the concrete. When he
glanced behind him, he saw his wet
footprints on the concrete, glittering
like silver. Jim frowned, then shrugged. It must
be a reflection, he thought. He picked up
his towel and dried off, taking special
care to dry his hair. Then he settled
into a lounge chair and relaxed for about
thirty minutes.
After his workout in the
pool, Jims stomach told him it was
time to eat. He went back to his room,
showered and changed clothes. Then he ate
a good meal in the hotel restaurant. He
returned to his room and slept until six
oclock the next morning.
The next day, Jim had
Fishman drive him out to the proposed
property so he could talk to people in
the area and check out the terrain. He
mostly wanted to get an insight into the
unemployment rate in the area, but he
also wanted to find out if there were any
homeless people there. Jim wasnt
sure if this would be the best location
to care for hungry people, but he liked
the area. When needy people hear
about the village, he finally decided, they will
find a way to get here.
