Chapter 4 - Page 35 - 2000 Acres

“At our present high rate of speed,” Jackie shouted, “a little over an hour.”

Jim returned Jackie’s smile. “I noticed you had the afterburners kicked in.”

During the next hour, Jim and Jackie discussed and solved all of the world’s problems. Jim was really happy when he found out Jackie believed in Jesus Christ. He finally told Jackie what he had been thinking about all morning. “Jackie,” he said, speaking from his heart, “I hope in the future you and I will become good friends.”

“I’d like that,” Jackie replied. “I have a lot of respect for you and what you’re planning to do. I’m also glad to know that you and I will continue to be friends in heaven.”

Jim was pleased. “A friendship that will extend past a lifetime and into eternity.”

As the car chugged, rattled, clanged, and occasionally even backfired along the road, Jackie finally found what he was looking for. “Jim,” he said, “just ahead is a big tree on your right. Do you see it?”

Jim strained to see which tree Jackie was talking about, but there were several tall trees. He saw one tree with a much thicker trunk than the others. “Are you talking about that short, fat tree next to the road?”

“Yes,” Jackie replied, “the one with the big branch that shoots straight out from it. That tree marks the corner of the property.”

Jim was excited. This land, he thought, might be the land he would do God’s work on. He surveyed the picturesque landscape, with a green forest full of wildlife and a breathless blue sky above. Birds flew all around the trees.
