Field Of Flowers
Behind her, Jim began to
sing. The keyboard operator quickly
joined in. "Amazing Grace, how
sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like
me."
With lowered head, Rhasha
turned to gaze at Jim as the congregation
joined him in song: " I
once was lost, but now I'm found, was
blind, but now I see." Rhasha resumed her walk
toward the altar. Tears of happiness
filled her eyes. "Was
grace that taught my heart to fear, and
grace, my fears relieved."
Jim didn't realize it, but
as he sang, he began walking rapidly
toward Rhasha. Everyone in the
congregation rose. Tears glistened on
every face.
"How
precious does that grace appear, the hour
I first believed."
Rhasha saw Jim walking
toward her and waited for him. The
congregation stopped singing as Jim
clasped Rhasha's hand, and they gazed
into each other's eyes. Rhasha, caught up
in the words to the song, began to sing.
Jim stopped singing. Now Rhasha's voice
was the only voice heard.
"Through
many dangers, tolls and snares, I have
already come. It's grace that brought me
safe thus far, and grace will lead me
home."
Rhasha fell silent when she
saw that Jim had stopped singing. Jim
began singing again.
"When we've been there ten thousand
years, bright, shining as the sun." He continued to gaze into
her eyes as he sang.
"We've no less days to sing God's
praise, than when we first began."
Rhasha hung her head as Jim
kissed her on the forehead. The
congregation began singing again as Jim
walked with Rhasha to the altar.
"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me."
Shanha ran up the aisle to
be with Jim and Rhasha. Francis followed.
Every person in the congregation, still
singing, stepped one by one into the
aisle to follow Jim and Rhasha to the
altar. "I once was lost,
but now I'm found, was blind, but now I
see."
