Lost In The Woods
The man in white put a ring
on Rhasha's finger and kissed her on the
forehead. He then put a ring on Jim's
finger and kissed him on the forehead.
Jim watched himself put a ring on the
man's finger and speak some vows to him.
The man said, "I do." Jim
didn't understand what the vision meant,
or if it meant anything. It seemed as if
all three were getting married. He
watched himself and Rhasha kiss. Jim was
sure this was just a dream. It wasn't
like a regular wedding.
The dream ended. Jim
continued to sleep.
When he woke up, Rhasha and
Shanha were already awake. Shanha was
sitting on Rhasha's lap, and they were
whispering to each other. When they saw
Jim open his eyes, they both kissed him
on the cheek. "Good morning,
sunshine," they said in harmony,
"you have such beautiful eyes."
Shanha held Jim's right hand
between both of hers. Honeycup lay in her
lap. Rhasha held Jim's left hand and
continued to balance Shanha on her legs.
"Good morning, girls," he
replied, "you both have pretty
eyes." Jim smiled at them but
suddenly remembered his dream.
"Sweetheart," he
said to Shanha, "always remember,
Mama and I love very much."
"I love you too,
Papa," she replied, "but why do
you look so sad?"
Jim looked at Rhasha, then
back to Shanha. "Angel," he
said, "while we were asleep, I had a
vision about you." Jim didn't want
to worry Rhasha, but he thought she and
Shanha should know what to expect when
they arrived at Angel Town. "He
showed me that you were getting on a
train with your mother. You were wearing
pretty clothes."
Shanha's expression changed
as she began to remember the train.
"Was I wearing a dress?"
Shanha's beautiful black eyes held Jim's.
"Yes," he replied,
"and you had a pretty hat pinned to
your hair. Do you remember?"
"I haven't thought
about it in a long time, but I can
remember being at a train station. I
remember a baby rabbit ran into the
woods."
Jim knew Shanha's memory
wasn't completely accurate. The rabbit in
his dream was full grown. "You
chased the rabbit into the woods and got
lost."
