Flying To America
The voice spoke no more. Jim
heard a now familiar humming sound that
gradually grew louder. The humming
throbbed for a moment, then faded away.
The vision was over.
Jim opened his eyes. He knew
that what he'd seen was a vision, not a
dream. He remembered reading in the Bible
about some of the events he'd seen, but
those were written by the prophets in the
Old Testament. The things the prophets
wrote about had been revealed to them
through dreams and visions.
Am I a
prophet? Jim
wondered. Why did the messenger of
God show me these things? What am I
expected to do? Does God want me to write
a book? Should I tell the world?
Jim considered what he'd
seen. No, he thought, these
things have already been written. The
messenger of God wanted me to know Angel
Town would be protected.
As Jim continued to think,
he recalled that the book of Revelations
described many of the same things he'd
seen in his vision, but what happened
after new Jerusalem came down to earth?
According to the Bible, life on earth
would continue for another thousand
years. This, Jim thought, would not be
the end of the world. It would be the end
of the world as it was now known. Many
people would die, then the world would
become godly.
Jim felt confident now-God
would take care of Angel Town. He rested
his head on the back of his seat and fell
asleep.
When Jim awoke, Rhasha and
Jackie were already awake. Simbatu had
come to terms with his fear and was now
sound asleep. Shanha was sleeping across
two seats.
When Rhasha saw that Jim was
awake, she clasped his left hand between
both of hers and kissed him on the
forehead. "Good morning,
sunshine," she said, grinning at the
ritual, "you have beautiful
eyes."
