Chapter 16 - Page 223 - Flying To America

Jim switched his view of the earth to his image in China. Again, the ground shook and buildings toppled. He knew the earth was expanding with the pressure from within, then collapsing and contracting as it found release. The earth would be egg shaped until pressure pushed the sides out, causing the poles to draw in.

Jim viewed the earth from other images of himself. He could see molten lava rolling across parts of Russia. Tsunamis hammered every shore of Japan. England, France, and Germany were engulfed in flames.

Jim could see people dying horribly in his vision-being ripped apart or burned to death. Fear was on every face. He saw hundreds of cars crashing into each other and people running insanely in every direction, fleeing from a wall of water that rolled over the tops of the buildings behind them. Shouts and screams filled the air. The ground shook and the pavement split in front of them. The ground rose up on one side of the split and a large crevasse opened on the lower side. Several people fell into the deep gap; others were pushed into it by those running into them from behind. Two people clung to the edge of the crevasse, their fingers locked onto the edge of the jagged pavement all that prevented them from falling into the hole. Above them, the survivors looked for a way around the gap, to no avail. The wall of water crashed down on top of them. Cars, people, and debris were washed into the crevasse.

Meteorites struck the earth in many places. One hit the ocean, and Jim saw multitudes of dead sea creatures floating on the surface. Tidal waves hit every shore on earth. Volcanoes erupted in several countries, including the United States. Somehow Jim knew that the catastrophes had killed a third of the population of earth.
