Chapter 1 - Page 2 - Bright Light

Suddenly, the children’s singing faded, and the room became dim. He heard a low humming sound that grew louder, as though amplified through speakers. As the humming got louder, it started to pulsate. Up near the ceiling, a glowing light appeared. In the middle of the glow, the paint of the ceiling seemed to peel back to reveal a window, open into heaven.

In the center of the window was a bright light in the shape of a man. The brilliant light sparkled as the figure stretched its arms out toward Jim, filling Jim’s body with the spirit of God. The humming sound started to fade.

A voice that could only be that of the son of God gave Jim the hope he was searching for. “I am the way, Jim. Let me come into your heart and you will never be alone again.”

With this, the image disappeared. The humming sound grew faint, and the window closed. As quickly as it had formed, the glow on the ceiling vanished. The vision was over.

Jim looked around. He realized he was the only person of the congregation who’d witnessed this miracle. Tears still ran down his cheeks, but now they were tears of happiness as he bathed in the spirit of God. He knew he had found everything he’d been looking for. Excited by the vision and the knowledge he’d received, with a mental image of God sitting on his throne in heaven, Jim gave thanks through prayer and praise.

“Father,” he prayed, “please forgive me of my sins and Lord, please have mercy on my soul. I know I’m a sinner. Thank you,” he said, “for Jesus, who died on the cross for my sins. I praise you, Father, for all that you have done for me, and thank you for the vision you have shown me.
