Chapter 11 - Page 159 - Rhasha Goes Flying

Laughing, Rhasha took off running. Jim chased her. He caught up with her at the jeep and pretended he was going to choke her, but kissed her instead.

Jim got in on the passenger side and Rhasha jumped in behind the steering wheel and started the jeep. She put it in first gear and slowly pulled onto the dirt road. She never shifted to another gear. She was determined not to make any mistakes. Every now and then, she looked over at Jim and smiled. She drove all the way to town at five miles per hour.

When they got to town, Jim asked her to park in front of the dining hall. “That was very interesting, Rhasha,” Jim said, smiling, when she complied.

“I thought so, too.” She was grinning from ear to ear. “But sweetheart, I didn’t make any mistakes, did I?”

Jim shook his head, still smiling. “No, you didn’t. But are we always going to drive that slow?”

“Yes!” she said emphatically as she climbed out of the jeep.

Jim met her in front of the jeep and they walked arm in arm into the dining hall. They talked to several of the guests before they ate lunch. Rhasha proudly told everyone that Jim was teaching her how to fly. No one had known Jim was a pilot.

When Jim and Rhasha finished talking to their friends, they headed for the buffet table. They loaded two plates with roast beef, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Jim spotted an empty table at the back of the dining hall. He escorted Rhasha to the table and pulled her chair out for her. After he sat down, Jim put his hands together to pray. Rhasha listened as he gave thanks to God. Jim said amen and they they began to eat. The conversation throughout the whole meal was about flying. Rhasha couldn’t stop talking about her new experience.
