- Rhasha Goes Flying
Rhasha looked ready to panic
as the tires touched the ground. When Jim
slowed almost to a stop, she began to
relax.
He taxied to the hangar and
spun the tail around, revving the engines
to a deafening pitch. He wanted to line
up with the door so he could back the
plane straight into the hangar with the
jeep.
Satisfied, Jim turned the
engines off. Rhasha unbuckled her seat
belt and climbed out of the plane. She
climbed into the jeep and started the
motor, then backed the jeep until it was
lined up in front of the plane. By this
time Jim was out of the plane and had the
bar hooked to the front wheel of the
aircraft. Rhasha backed the jeep to the
bar and Jim hooked the bar over the hitch
and latched it, then she backed the plane
into the hangar.
Rhasha parked the jeep in
front of the open hangar doors, got out,
and walked around to the passenger side
to wait for Jim as he closed the hangar
doors. Rhasha beamed at him when he
walked to the passenger side of the jeep.
Do you want me to
drive, Jim? she asked.
Jim put one hand on the back
of Rhashas seat and the other hand
at the top of the door and leaned toward
her. Rhasha, he said,
youre going to be doing all
the driving. From now on, when we get in
the jeep, you get in on the drivers
side.
Rhasha slid around to face
Jim and dropped her feet to the ground.
When she stood up, her body was against
Jims, forcing him to stand up
straight. She gave him a big kiss and
immediately stepped around him.
Rhasha was wearing her blue
denim shorts with a long scarf run
through the belt loops and tied in a knot
on her right side. Her oversized,
button-up shirt was draped over her small
frame and gathered into a knot above her
belly button.
