- Rhasha Goes Flying
“I don’t want to
go, Jim,” Charlie replied, “but
I don’t have anything to do here and
this new job will keep me flying,
routinely.”
Since Jim had hired a
permanent doctor, he didn’t really
need a pilot, but he did regret losing
Charlie. “So when do you start your
new job?”
Charlie hung his head and
spoke in a low voice. “That’s
something else I need to talk to you
about.” Jim realized what Charlie
was saying. “Do they need you to
start immediately?”
“Yes. But I told them I
would have to talk to you before I accept
the job.”
“Charlie,” Jim
said, “you do what you need to do.
I’ll understand. I just hope
you’ll come back to visit.”
“I will, Jim,”
Charlie said, looking relieved.
“Would it be all right if I use your
landing strip when I do?”
“You can use the
landing strip anytime you want to.”
They said their good-byes
and Charlie walked out of the hospital,
never to be heard from again.
When Jim looked at Rhasha,
he could tell she was disappointed. She
tried not to show it, but it was obvious.
“What’s the matter?” Jim
asked. “You look sad.”
“I’m just sorry
Charlie quit his job,” Rhasha
replied.
Jim put his arms around her
waist and Rhasha circled his neck with
her arms. They put their foreheads
together.
“Ahhh . . . Rhasha. And
you wanted to go flying today,
didn’t you?” He was teasing
her, but Rhasha didn’t know it.
