- Rhasha Goes Flying
Still smiling, Rhasha bit
her bottom lip and lowered her head. She
teased Jim with her big black eyes.
Wiggling back and forth with her hands
locked together in front of her, she
nodded vigorously.
“And now,” Jim
laughed, “it’s back to
‘let’s go flying.’ ”
Rhasha put her arms around Jim’s
neck and kissed him lightly on the lips.
She assumed an exaggerated, cocky
attitude and answered, “Great,
Jim-you understand it perfectly.”
Jim laughed and shook his
head. “You’re just like a wife,
Rhasha. You’ve already figured out
how to get your way with me.”
“Well,” and Rhasha
grinned, “not in everything, but
I’m working on it. I’ll have my
way when I become your wife.” She
stepped back and held up her pinkie
finger. Jim locked his pinkie finger
around hers.
Jim knew that Rhasha
wasn’t being manipulative. She was
just being her sweet, beautiful self. He
loved her youthful innocence. How can I
turn down such an angelic face? he
thought. She’s doing nothing but
beaming love at me.
Aloud he said,
“Let’s go visit the patients,
and then we’ll go flying.”
Rhasha bounced up and down
in excitement. They released pinkie
fingers, and Rhasha held onto Jim’s
arm with both hands as they walked into
the hospital.
Jim and Rhasha again started
with bed one. The little girl’s face
lit up when she saw them. Jim said a
prayer for her as he held her hand
between both of his.
“Sweetheart,” he
said, “you have such pretty
eyes.”
