Chapter 2 - Page 12 - Vision Of Africa

“You told God you would do whatever he asked of you,” the voice thundered. “Yes, there are missionaries all over Africa. But God has a place there for you, too.”

“Sir, does God want me to go to the village you showed me?”

   “Jim,”
the voice boomed, “God wants you to build the village you saw. He wants you to feed the hungry, clothe
the poor, and house the homeless.”
The voice hesitated, as if the speaker noticed Jim’s confusion. “Jim, God knows your heart. He knows you will do what he asks of you.”

With this, the window into heaven closed. Jim heard the soft humming sound that grew louder, then began to pulsate. After a few seconds, it faded away. As quick as it had started, the glow on the ceiling vanished and the vision was over.

Slowly Jim reached up to the corner of his desk and pulled himself up from his knees. He righted his chair and sat down with his elbows on the desk and his hands covering his face. He sat for a long time, thinking about all that he had seen.

Jim was a wealthy man-a multimillionaire. He owned the South and West Tool Company, with over one thousand employees. As president of the company, he appointed dependable and trustworthy people to top positions, including his board of directors, so he had the freedom to come and go as he pleased. With his newfound Christianity and his mission from God, it was even more important that he have trustworthy people running his company.

God’s plan for Jim would take him thousands of miles away from his company, to a place that was totally different from the world he grew up in. Jim had never been to Africa, but it didn’t matter. He would do what God asked of him.
