Chapter 8 - Page 102 - Talking Eyes

“Good. I’ll talk to Rhasha. If she wants to, we’ll start this afternoon.”

“We’ll be waiting for you, Jim,” Sara replied, then added, “this could be exciting.”

When Jim left the office, Rhasha was walking toward him. They met in the middle of the open area between the office and the beds. Rhasha jumped up and locked her legs around Jim’s waist and her arms around his neck and rested her left cheek on the top of Jim’s head. Jim locked his arms around her waist and spun her in a circle. Rhasha slid down Jim’s body and placed her hands on his chest. She kissed him.

Jim saw the doctor from the corner of his eye, watching what Rhasha did in surprise. She was clearly amazed that they showed this kind of affection for each other. Jim didn’t care. He was hopelessly in love with Rhasha. He knew she would marry someday, and his heart would break.

Jim pulled back. “Rhasha, how would you like to sing for the patients every evening?”

“I’d love it,” Rhasha exclaimed. “Just you and me?”

“For two or three days,” Jim replied, “and then I’ll hire a drummer and a keyboard player.”

Little did Jim or Rhasha know it, but singing would become their passion.

Jim and Rhasha left the hospital. As they walked down the street, Rhasha, full of energy, kept cutting up with Jim all the way home. When Jim opened the front door, Rhasha put her arms around his neck.

“Carry me across, Jim,” she asked.
