Chapter
6 - Page 69 - Rhasha's Bed
Jim slipped his thumb into a
guitar pick and lifted the instrument up
to his chest. He looked into
Rhashas eyes and began to strum the
guitar. Music filled the air.
This little light of mine, Lord,
Im gonna let it shine. This little
light of mine, Lord, Im gonna let
it shine. This little light of mine,
Lord, Im gonna let it shine. Let it
shine, let it shine, let it shine.
In the office, Betty heard
Jim singing to Rhasha. She pushed the
Bible back and listened.
Jim could tell Rhasha loved
the song. Her eyes glittered, and with
effort she slightly smiled.
Jesus
gave me light, now Im gonna let it
shine.
Jesus gave me light, now Im gonna
let it shine. Jesus gave me light, now
Im gonna let it shine. Let it
shine, let it shine, let it shine.
When Jim finished that song,
he started another.
My
mommy told me something that every kid
should know. Its all about the
devil and I learned to not like him so.
He certainly causes trouble when you let
him in your room.
Happiness and contentment
filled Rhashas face. Her eyelids
became heavy. She tried to stay awake,
but the soothing music pulled them shut.
Before Jim finished the second song,
Rhasha was in a deep sleep. Jim set the
guitar on the floor and leaned it against
the side of the bed. He leaned over and
kissed Rhasha gently on the cheek. He
knew she had been through a lot of pain
in her life.
