Jim And Rhasha's
Big Event
Jim's spirit stood up to
comfort her, but his lifeless body
remained on the floor. He could see the
tears running down Rhasha's cheeks. He
could hear her sobbing. He put his arms
around her. He knew she couldn't feel his
arms, but he just wanted to hold her.
Rhasha immediately stopped
crying. "Who touched me?" she
asked.
Several people were gathered
around Rhasha. They all had their hands
on her. One woman looked bewildered.
"Rhasha, we're all touching
you."
Rhasha looked at her
friends' hands. "No." She shook
her head. "It was different. It was
Jim."
Everyone looked at Jim's
motionless body laying on the floor. One
man looked sympathetically at Rhasha.
"I'm sorry," he said, "but
it couldn't have been Jim. I wish it
was."
"No," Rhasha
insisted, "Jim's spirit is here with
us. I felt him touch me." She
started to cry again.
Jim's spirit leaned his head
against Rhasha's head. Rhasha couldn't
feel it. Jim kissed her, but she couldn't
feel his lips touching hers. Jim
whispered in her ear, but she couldn't
hear him. "I love you,
sunshine," he said.
Thamish and Thasha pulled
Rhasha through the crowd and walked her
to their house.
Rhasha wanted to be alone,
but people kept coming by to check on
her. In a strange way, Rhasha felt
content. She knew Jim's spirit was there.
Finally she told Thamish she needed to be
by herself, said good night to everyone,
and went to her bedroom. She took a
shower and climbed quickly into bed,
somehow knowing that Jim's spirit would
be lying beside her.
She was right. Jim's spirit
lay next to her, on his back.
