Jim's Big Surprise
When Rhasha parked the jeep,
she forgot to set the emergency brake. As
Jim and Rhasha began eating their
sandwiches, they didn't see the jeep roll
a few inches forward and stop. Jim heard
a long wavering sound coming from the top
of the hill. He and Rhasha looked around,
trying to determine what it was.
The wheels rolled a few more
inches, but the gravel stopped the jeep
from going farther. The eerie, wavering
sound continued. Jim didn't know God was
trying to warn him of the danger.
The wheels rolled again, but
this time the jeep didn't stop. It
gathered speed as it plummeted down the
hill.
There were very few trees
between the area where the jeep had been
parked and the pool. Those that were
present were small and only served to
slow the jeep down. No one saw the jeep
careening down the hill toward the pool
of water. And toward a family of four
eating their lunch, oblivious to the jeep
hurtling toward them.
Rhasha glanced up and saw
the jeep. She yelled, leaped to her feet,
and ran toward it. Her shout was lost in
the crash of the waterfalls; few people
heard her. Jim heard her yell, and took
off running behind her. He didn't see the
jeep until he started running.
Rhasha was well ahead of
him. She was yelling and waving her arms
at the family of four, but they couldn't
hear her. Rhasha changed direction,
running at an angle upward, hoping to
reach the jeep before it plowed into the
family.
Jim could see that Rhasha
wasn't going to make it in time. He ran
toward the family, yelling. They were
talking to each other and didn't notice
him.
