Jim's Big Surprise
Two weeks passed and the
church continued to grow. Fifteen more
people became Christians. Others were
thinking about it. Reverend Morris was
trying to get a choir together to sing at
the Sunday morning services. Several
people signed up, but hadn't practiced
together yet. Reverend Morris told them
if they practiced, they could start
singing in two weeks. Jim was happy the
church now had a choir.
Jim and Rhasha spent all
their time together. Their love grew even
stronger.
Three weeks after Shanha and
her mother left Angel Town, after the
Sunday morning church service, Jim and
Rhasha loaded the jeep with picnic
supplies and headed for the waterfalls.
As Rhasha drove, Jim hung his arm out his
window. A warm breeze stroked his face.
They were quiet on the way to the falls,
both deep in thought, both thinking about
the other. It so happened, they were
thinking about the same thing-marriage.
The problem was, they were thinking of
different ramifications.
Thinking how much he loved
Rhasha, Jim remembered what God's
messenger told him on the plane when he
was coming to Africa for the first time:
Rhasha would be a blessing and an
inspiration to Jim for the rest of his
life. Jim knew Rhasha should marry a
younger man, but now he didn't want that.
He knew, if he lost Rhasha, his life
would be dull and boring. He didn't know
what to do-he was too old to marry her,
but he wanted her to be his wife.
Rhasha was thinking about
how happy they would be when they
got married. She noticed Jim was being
extra quiet, and winked at him and
smiled. "What are you thinking
about?" she asked.
Jim winked back. "I'm
thinking about you, angel," he said.
"I think you should fall in love
with someone your own age."
