Shanha Talks To
Jesus
Jim was getting sleepy too.
He rose and went to the kitchen to check
on the cook before they all left the
dining hall and walked across the street
to Jim and Rhasha's house. When they got
inside, Shanha wanted to show her mother
a bamboo whistle, and the pair went to
Shanha's bedroom. Rhasha went to the
bathroom to take a shower and when she
came out, she was wearing a set of Jim's
pajamas.
When Jim emerged from his
shower, Rhasha was sitting on the bed
with his guitar. Jim glanced at the
window and saw smiling faces looking back
at him from the opposite side. He smiled
and kissed Rhasha on the lips as he took
the guitar from Rhasha and put the strap
around his neck. He picked a few notes,
then he and Rhasha began to sing.
"This
little light of mine, Lord, I'm gonna let
it shine." Before the first sentence
was completed, Shanha burst into the room
and began to sing. Francis followed
Shanha into the room and watched as they
continued to sing.
"This little light of mine, Lord,
I'm gonna let it shine. This little light
of mine, Lord, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it
shine."
Francis began clapping her
hands to the beat of the music. All the
children outside Jim's window clapped as
they sang along.
"Jesus
gave me light, now I'm gonna let it
shine. Jesus gave me light, now I'm gonna
let it shine. Jesus gave me light, now
I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let
it shine, let it shine."
Jim had left his porch light
on. They saw people coming from every
direction to listen to them sing, and to
sing along. The sound of music could be
heard all through Angel Town. When they
finished singing This
Little Light Of Mine, they launched into
another song.
