Shanha's Faith
Jackie was now looking at
the beam of light in the distance.
"I don't know, Jim. We got separated
in a heavy crowd of people."
Jim looked at the other beam
of light. "I think I know where
Simbatu is," he said. Jim put the
gearshift in drive and headed toward the
second beam.
Moments later, they were
parked in front of the Dallas zoo. Jim
spotted Simbatu sitting under a shade
tree, praying. Jim honked the horn and
Simbatu looked up, then grinned-his
prayers had been answered. Simbatu rushed
to the car and climbed into the back
seat. They were all happy to be united
again.
The beam of light
disappeared and the window to heaven
closed. Clouds rolled across the sky like
waves across the ocean. Lightning flashed
and thunder roared. The clouds rushed
toward the west, then quickly returned to
their former place.
Jim drove back to his
apartment and spent an hour talking on
the telephone, making arrangements for
the company pilot to take them back to
Africa. They would meet Mario at the
airport at eleven o'clock the next
morning.
When he finished talking to
Mario, Jim made several more calls, then
called Bill, his shipping manager, and
let Bill know that no more shipments were
to be made to Randell Tool Distributors.
Last of all, Jim called Raymond, the
company chauffeur, and asked him to be at
the apartment by ten o'clock the next
morning.
