Chapter 13 - Page 184 - Tunnel Vision

He kissed the smaller girl on the cheek and put his arm around her waist. “You’re the pretty girl in bed two,” he said. He looked at the taller girl. He kissed her on the cheek and wrapped one arm around her waist. “And you’re the pretty girl in bed three.”

Jim, Rhasha and the young mother rose and Jim kissed the mother on her cheek.    “You’re the pretty woman in bed four.”

Tears rolled down Jim and Rhasha’s cheeks. They knew God must have healed the patients in the first four beds. They’d figured out who four of the people in front of the hospital were, but who were all the other people?

As Jim and Rhasha hugged the mother and her two daughters, the other people gathered around. Suddenly, Jim had a crazy thought. He knew it couldn’t be true, but he just had to find out. He looked at Rhasha. She raised her eyebrows-she’d had the same thought at the same time.

They both ran toward the hospital door, stopping on the porch to clasp each other’s hand. Jim slowly opened the door. They both peeked around the door frame. All the beds were empty. Not a patient was in sight. Sheets and blankets were scattered everywhere.

Jim and Rhasha looked at each other in disbelief. They couldn’t remember the beam of light that had shot from heaven toward the hospital, but they knew God must have healed all the patients.

They both turned to look at the crowd gathered around the hospital porch. The people began laughing at the looks on Jim and Rhasha’s faces.

“We’re all healed, Papa,” several people yelled.
