“Have you noticed how calm it is?” he asked Rhasha.

“Yes. The sun is shining-it should be steaming hot.” Rhasha paused and looked at Jim. “Are you hot?”

“No,” Jim said, “the temperature is just right.” Jim looked at Rhasha. He could tell something was on her mind.

After a moment she said, “Do you feel something sort of . . . magical in the air?”

“Yes,” Jim replied, “I do. It feels so calm and peaceful. I think something happened at the falls today, but what was it? I can’t remember.”

“I don’t know, but I have the same feeling.”

“Rhasha, I think something happened to us on that boulder, but I feel like it was something good.”

“I think so, too.” Rhasha looked puzzled. “But if it was something good, then why did we all block it out of our minds?”

Jim didn’t have an answer for her, because he was asking himself the same question.

Rhasha turned off the main road onto the road that led to the village. The hospital could be seen in the distance.

“Let’s stop at the hospital,” Jim suggested.

   “OK.”

Rhasha shifted into second gear. As she shifted into third gear, something down the road caught Jim’s attention. “Look,” he said, “do you see all the people in front of the hospital?”
