Chapter 2 - Page 16 - Vision Of Africa

Jim sat at his desk and all he could think about was beautiful Christine. He was well aware that beauty is only skin deep, but Jim knew Christine was beautiful on the inside, as well. He sat and thought about Christine until the grandfather clock clanged several times, waking him from his reverie. He needed to get to the airport.

He picked up the phone and pushed a button. “Mary,” Jim said when she answered, “I’m ready to go to the airport. Tell Raymond to park the limo out front.” Then he picked up his Bible and walked out of the office. He closed the door behind him. It was time for Jim to start his new life in Africa.

He walked out into a sunny day. A light breeze soothed his body. Raymond was already parked in the driveway and standing beside the company limousine. Raymond observed Jim walking through the door and opened the passenger door on the driver’s side. “Good morning, sir.”

“Good morning, Raymond,” Jim responded, then asked about the man’s wife and four children. “Is all well with you and the family?”

Raymond smiled, pleased with his boss’s new attitude and friendliness. “Yes sir, my family and I are doing well. How are you?”

“Raymond,” Jim replied as he slipped inside the limo, “I’m going to Africa and I don’t know what to do when I get there.” He smiled at the chauffeur still waiting beside the open door. “I feel in my heart that God will be with me.”

“Sir, I know why you’re going to Africa,” Raymond replied, “and I, for one, think you should be commended for it.”
