Chapter 11 - Page 153 - Rhasha Goes Flying

The engines were quieter now, but she still had to speak loudly. “Ohhh Jim, it’s so beautiful. Everything looks so different up here.”

“I love flying. Up here I feel closer to God than any other place on earth.” He could see Rhasha wasn’t afraid anymore so he dropped the wing on her side. He wanted her to get a better view of the ground. “Look,” Jim said, “I tilted the plane your way so you can see better.”

Jim continued to fly low. “So what do you think, Rhasha?” he asked.

She was holding her stomach, but she looked in every direction, as though afraid she might miss something. “My stomach feels funny,” she replied, “but I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.”

Jim leaned over and kissed her. “Rhasha,” he said, “I believe this is just a flickering glimpse of what heaven is like.”

“Look, Jim,” Rhasha said. “The trees and houses look so small. The sky looks much bigger now.”

Jim flew Rhasha around for over an hour. She took in all the sights, absorbing as much as she possibly could. He didn’t want her to be in the air too long on her first flight, so finally he suggested, “Sweetheart, why don’t we go back to airport and land the plane? We can fly again tomorrow.”

With all the excitement, Rhasha looked tired. “OK,” she replied, but added, “so are we going flying every day?”

   “Do you want to?”

“I’d love to-if you want to.”
