- New Passion
Jim started to answer
Rhashas question, but the nurse
interrupted him. Ive been
showing this picture to all the patients,
to give them hope, she said.
When Jim came into the office, he
saw it lying on the desk.
Suddenly, Rhasha understood
everything. Nurse, can I keep this
picture?
Sure, the nurse
replied. Youre healed now, so
we dont need it anymore. Besides,
we have other pictures of you.
Rhasha stood up and pulled
on Jims arm. When he rose, she put
her arms around his neck and pressed her
head against his. She didnt want to
release him. Jim was very special to her,
and she knew she was very special to Jim.
They left the office
together, and paused at each bed to visit
with the patients. As Jim prayed for each
patient, Rhasha was right at his side.
She couldnt look at him without
feeling a surge of love. From that day
forward, she was a different person. She
loved life more than ever. She wanted to
be just like Jim. She wanted everyone she
met to feel like they were special to
her.
The day passed much like
the day before. Rhasha continued to show
her youthful energy. Jim got permission
from the preacher to sing at church every
Sunday, and hired Simbatu, a friend of
Jackies and a keyboard player with
band experience. He asked Jackie and
Simbatu to meet with them the next day,
so they could all practice together for
three or four hours before playing
publicly that Sunday at church.
The next morning, Jim took
Rhasha to town to buy her some clothes
suitable to wear to church. He also
bought a shirt and a new pair of shoes
for himself.
